Beamtime for Industry

ISIS Neutron and Muon Source have long-established links with more than 100 companies from small and medium-sized companies to large household names such as Rolls-Royce, Unilever, Airbus and BP. Over the past 30 years, these UK and global industries have directly benefitted from the value that neutron science can bring to their business.

Neutrons and muons have applications right across industry providing powerful tools to solve a range of challenging industrial problems in areas as varied as aerospace, electronics, automotive engineering, catalyst, consumer chemical products, petrochemicals, lubricants, medicine, and agriculture.

Our industrial partners benefit from consultation with world-leading experts and a fast-tracked and fully confidential service. We have a variety of mechanisms to provide access to the facility that includes proprietary access, partnerships with academia, and the ISIS Collaborative R&D Programme, which is specifically geared towards the needs of industrial partners. We also have links to, and can advise on, other EU and STFC initiatives that provide industrial access to neutron facilities.
