Introduction and profile

I am the Pressure and Furnace Section Leader of the Sample Environment Group at ISIS. My team provide equipment and technical support to the visiting scientist at ISIS conducting experiments that involve high temperature, high pressure or gas handling.

I have been in engineering for over 28 years, the last 18 years being spent in the Pressure and Furnace Section.

Research and development interests

Currently working on tasks as part of the Sine 2020 european project to improve sample environment equipment. The first being the development of high pressure cells for inelastic neutron scattering and the second, designing and developing methods to reduce cooling times of beam line furnaces to enable quicker sample changes. These projects require collaboration with a number of european neutron facilities with the same requirements such as Institut Laue-Langevin France, Paul Scherrer Institute Switzerland and Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) Germany.
