The Disordered Materials group at ISIS is composed of six members and is responsible for the operation of three neutron diffraction instruments (GEM, NIMROD and SANDALS) and an X-ray diffraction facility.
The Disordered Materials group supports a sizeable community of users and generally meets once or twice a year, at the Neutrons and Muons Users Meeting (NMUM) or at a specifically organized Disordered Materials User Group Meeting (DMUGM).
Disordered Materials User Group meeting
In general we aim to organize a USer Group Meeting once a year, and the last meeting was held on the 6th and 7th of April 2009. The next meeting is provisionally scheduled for September 2010. Previous agendas are linked at the foot of the page. If you would like to be informed about our meetings, please join our mailing list by sending us an e-mail.
Periodically, official representatives of the user group are elected at the DMUGMs and these individuals attend the twice yearly meeting of the ISIS User Committee. The aim of these meetings is to provide an opportunity for any issues and concerns of the group to be raised with the ISIS management.
Data analysis workshop
In conjunction with the user group meeting the group also organizes a series of data analysis workshops.
This year a new format for the workshop has been experimented. Read more about the new ISIS Disordered Materials Group Data Analysis Workshop, covering neutron and X-ray scattering data reduction and Empirical Potential Structure Refinement.
Once again, if you would like to be kept up to date on the details of these meetings, join our mailing list by sending us an e-mail.
