Publishing your research:

When publishing results from your experiments at ISIS, it is expected that you will include your ISIS local contact as a co-author on your papers.

Without the dedicated work of ISIS scientists in designing, commissioning, building, maintaining and developing the ISIS instruments many experiments could not succeed.

If your research team is largely self-sufficient and you do not intend to include your local contact as a co-author on publications, you should discuss this during the experiment.

Your publications from experiments at ISIS should contain an acknowledgement of the support received from ISIS. For example:

 “Experiments at the ISIS Pulsed Neutron and Muon Source were supported by a beamtime allocation from the Science and Technology Facilities Council.”

It is also useful to list the RB number for the experiment in the acknowledgements.

Please send information on your publications to isisreports@rl.ac.uk . This allows them to be entered in to the ISIS e-publication (e-pubs) system.

CRISP experimental setup description: 

If you are writing a paper incorporating CRISP data, you might like to include the following text and references in your experimental section, with the correct amendments addictions for sample environment and mode of operation etc:

Neutron Reflectivity (NR) was carried out at the CRISP Time of Flight (TOF) reflectometer at the ISIS facility[1,2]. The instrument was operated in unpolarized/polarised mode in order to maximize the available flux at the sample/obtain magnetic sensitivity, with a wavelength range of 0.5 Å - 6.5 Å. The TOF flight technique allows a fixed geometry and constant Q resolution. The reflected neutrons were detected with a point 3He detector. Typical acquisition times are of the order of 4-8 hours for a specular measurement out to 0.25 Å-1 in Qz.
The measurement geometry used in the experiments is shown in figure 1. The point detector was set up in the scattering plane, so that the transverse component of the wave-vector transfer Qx is in the scattering plane. Hence the neutron intensity is integrated over Qy.
