Installation Instructions for ARIEL
The amount of virtual memory you will need depends on the instrument you work on and the type of files you plan to access. For HRPD, you need at least 60MB for standard files, and at least 100Mb for "fully decoupled" files. For GEM, you need at least 300 Mb. To increase the amount of virtual memory on your computer, you can do it in the system properties
Ariel is reading data through OpenGenie. Then the first thing is to install OpenGenie on your computer. Click on the link below to open the OpenGenie web-page, go to the download pages and follow instructions. http://www.isis.rl.ac.uk/OpenGENIE/ Once you have installed OpenGenie, it should updated automatically the path variable for Windows NT/2000/XP - However if you are using Windows 95/98/Me, you will have the following pop-up warning message stating "Failed to Read PAth Environment Variabl"
Then, you will have to add manually this line in the autoexec.bat file located on C:\ - path="C:\program files\cclrc isis facility\open genie\system";%path%
Before continuing ensure that OpenGenie is working correctly
