The The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Neutron and X-ray training centre (NEXT) is looking to fill six PhD studentships starting in October 2011.
Applications are invited for PhD studentships to be based at one of three sites: The ISIS neutron source at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire, University College London or The Royal Holloway, University of London. The successful candidates will be part of an 8-10 student cohort who will spend their first year doing high level courses at the Universities followed by three years on a project at their host site. Each student will have two supervisors and will have plenty of opportunity to meet and work with the rest of their cohort.
There has been a huge investment in neutron and x-ray scattering facilities in the UK in recent years with the construction of the diamond light source and the ISIS second target station and all the projects will be exploiting these exciting world class techniques. For more information on the projects please see the projects page.
