ISIS and Wadham College are inviting applications for the prestigious Keeley-Rutherford Junior Research Fellowship in Condensed Matter Physics. The Fellow will engage, in original research and will further the teaching and scholarship of contemporary Condensed-Matter Physics at Wadham College.

The Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is the UK's provider of large scale inter-disciplinary research infrastructures and their supporting technologies, which enable UK researchers to investigate the world we live in and understand the building blocks of the universe. Our Harwell Oxford Campus is home to world-leading science including the ISIS neutron source, Central Laser Facility, Diamond Light Source, space and high performance computing and technology.

Salary is in the range: £26,610 - £29,566 dependant on knowledge and experience

ISIS is a world leading Facility for condensed matter research using neutron scattering and muon spectroscopy, with a strong scientific user programme and extensive international links. Experimental capabilities developed at ISIS including the second target station have enabled new and significant scientific advances. Wadham College has a strong tradition of Physics and a particular connection with Condensed- Matter Physics through the Dr. Lee's Professor of Experimental Philosophy, who is a Fellow of the college.

ISIS and Wadham College are inviting applications for the prestigious Keeley-Rutherford Junior Research Fellowship in Condensed Matter Physics. The Fellow will engage, in original research and will further the teaching and scholarship of contemporary Condensed-Matter Physics at Wadham College.

The principal duty of the post holder will be to pursue original research in Condensed Matter Physics, aimed at delivering the full scientific potential of the new facilities at ISIS, through the development of new techniques and the new interpretation of neutron experiments. The research can be theoretical or experimental in nature, with a strong emphasis on the theory-experiment interface to interpret experimental results or to design new experiments. As part of his or her duties, the Fellow will also provide tuition in the field of Condensed Matter Physics for up to 4 hours per week in term time.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in Physics or other relevant subject, and are expected to have an excellent track record in Condensed Matter Physics at postdoctoral level and to demonstrate proficiency in teaching undergraduates.
