EMU upgrade
We are currently working on the EMU upgrade which should be ready in the autumn of 2009. We have finished the design and the new parts are currently flooding in. The major improvements are:
New 96 detector design, maintaining the current solid angle.
Three rings to improve operation in fly past mode.
Count rate expected to be 70MeV/hr, over three times the present rate. Upgraded TDC (Xmas 2009) will improve this further!
New cruciform to accept a Dilution Fridge. The EMU temperature range will then be 50mK to 1500K.
The present magnetic field range is maintained, 0.45T longitudinal field.
New ports for laser experiments.
