Quasi-elastic neutron scattering plays a key role in the study of soft matter systems, ranging from polymers to complex biological systems.
The general trend in soft matter science is to move towards the investigation of complex and multi-component systems. From polymer blends and nanocomposites, to the cell lipid membrane. Quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS) selectively probes the dynamical mechanisms in such systems at a molecular level. In particular its excellent complementarity with computational methods, such as Molecular Dynamic simulations, and with other experimental techniques, enables the challenging study of complex systems.
