The ISIS Support Laboratories

The Support Laboratories team are here to help with the equipment and general procedures in the preparation of samples for beamline experiments. They also offer assistance in supplementary analytical and characterisation techniques related to beamline experiments, as well as help with health and safety issues.

Users are advised to contact the support team to enquire about the use of specific equipment well in advance of their visit to ISIS.

Facilities

Materials Characterisation Laboratory

The Materials Characterisation Laboratory at ISIS boasts a wide range of instrumentation for studying a variety of material properties including determining sample structure, composition, purity and magnetic and electronic or electrical properties.

Hydrogen and Catalysis Laboratory

The ISIS Hydrogen and Catalysis Laboratory offers a range of equipment optimised for the study of hydrogen storage materials and catalysts.

Biology Laboratories

ISIS houses a biology laboratory in each target station, providing specialist equipment and expertise for the preparation, characterisation and handling of biological and biochemical samples.

Chemistry Laboratories

ISIS has a number of in-house chemistry laboratories aimed at enabling pre- and post-beamline experiments including sample preparation.

ISIS Deuteration Facility

The ISIS Deuteration Facility (formerly the Oxford Isotope facility) is able to produce deuterated samples for neutron experiments.

Equipment
