Electrical Installations/Maintenance Supervisor

The Science and Technology Facilities Council brings strategic leadership to UK investments in large national and international research facilities, together with delivering world class science and technology. The Council operates some of the world’s most advanced facilities, such as ISIS.

ISIS is a source of pulsed neutrons and muons located at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, near Oxford. The facility performs cutting-edge research into structure and properties of materials at an atomic and molecular level.

There is an opportunity for Electrical Installations/Maintenance Supervisors to join the Operations Electrical Installations Section to provide support for much of the equipment associated with the smooth running of ISIS. The section is looking to recruit supervisors who have served a fully recognised apprenticeship or are similarly qualified. It is also essential that they possess at least a level 3 City and Guilds/ONC in an Electrical discipline and an HNC or equivalent experience would be required.

As the Electrical Installations Supervisor you will be responsible for the supervision of Electrical Support Technicians ensuring that the team are working within safety guidelines.

Assisting the Section Leader with the day to day running of the workshop, taking full responsibility in the Section Leader’s absence.

You will be required to become an Electrical Authorised Person, providing safe isolation procedures and permits for installations throughout ISIS.

You will be ideally qualified to at least City and Guilds 2391 providing inspection and testing and also managing an up to date recording method of test results carried out within the Section.
