The Science and Technology Facilities Council brings strategic leadership to UK investments in large national and international research facilities, together with delivering world class science and technology. The Council operates some of the world’s most advanced facilities, such as ISIS.
ISIS is a source of pulsed neutrons and muons located at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, near Oxford. The facility performs cutting-edge research into structure and properties of materials at an atomic and molecular level.
There is an opportunity for an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to join the ISIS Accelerator Electrical Engineering Section to provide support for much of the equipment associated with the smooth running of ISIS. The section is looking to recruit a supervisor who have served a fully recognised apprenticeship or are similarly qualified. It is also essential that they possess at least a level 3 City and Guilds/ONC in an Electrical discipline, HNC or equivalent experience would be preferred.
As the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor you will be responsible for the production and implementation of a maintenance schedule designed to reduce the down time of the ISIS machine.
The position will involve working closely with the Electrical Installations Supervisor to ensure that the workshop runs smoothly.
You will be required to become an LV Electrical Authorised Person, providing safe isolation procedures and permits for essential maintenance tasks throughout ISIS.
You will be ideally qualified to at least City and Guilds 2391 providing inspection and testing and have a proven track record with organising electrical maintenance programs.
