RF Group Technician

ISIS uses high power radio frequency sources to accelerate particles to high energy. The RF group is responsible for ensuring operational availability and reliability through regular maintenance, upkeep and repair of its systems. In parallel, on-going design, development and installation programs are managed to ensure future capability and sustainability. This position requires a skill set suited primarily to operation, maintenance and repair of the closely integrated systems of electrical, electronic, HV, RF, control loops, cooling and vacuum. Secondly to building, manufacture and installation of components and modules for upgrade and replacement work.

Duties will include:

  • supporting colleagues and group in the installation, maintenance and use of high power RF amplifier valves, power supplies and ancillary equipment
  • manufacture prototype and operationally ready hardware (electrical/electronic/mechanical)
  • contribute to documentation, record taking, and engineering drawings
  • assist in upkeep of spares inventories
  • small order procurement and liaison with suppliers        
  • participation in out of hours ‘on call’ roster.

Contacts and Communication

Reporting directly to a section leader, you will be expected to have close contact with their immediate colleagues as well as other engineers, technicians and control room staff within ISIS, while also being confident to liaise with external manufacturers and suppliers.
