Summer Student Project: ISIS-15

Electronic User Support Group Summer Student

The ISIS Electronic User Support Group provides beamline scientists and users of the 34 neutron and muon instruments with sample environment control and instrumentation equipment and technical support. The group is currently developing an information system providing staff and users contextual information related to the control and instrumentation equipment used for ISIS experiments.

The system uses a novel approach to information management by associating Digital Object Identifiers (DOI’s) to hardware. The successful applicant will be organising and migrating existing electronic records to a new system and associating DOI’s with equipment. This work will also provide exposure to the wide range of control and instrumentation equipment used at ISIS.

Working within a technical team, working with SharePoint document management system, No direct technical experience, but will experience a vast amount of sample environment equipment which we more than happy to explain how they operate and why they are used at ISIS.
