The ISIS Electronic User Support Group provides beam line scientists and users of the 34 neutron and muon instruments with the development and support of control and instrumentation systems. Motion control systems are a fundamental part of the group’s output, enabling scientific machines to be at the cutting edge of applied science.
As the group’s motion applications engineer you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for developing technical solutions, testing and commissioning motion control systems, managing the handover of new systems to operations and providing operational support. As a key member of the team you must have good administrative and communication skills, have sound technical knowledge and judgment and a drive for problem solving and improving the reliability of systems critical to ISIS operations.
You will be required to work as a classified radiation worker, participate in the group's out-of-hours on-call scheme and occasionally travel within the UK and overseas.
It is desirable for you to hold a full UK driving license.
