In electronic systems disorder plays a non-trivial role due to the wave nature of the particles.

Of particular interest is the case of a randomly tangled conducting chain (see figure). In this case, even the classical properties of the structure are non-trivial, as it has the geometry of a small-world network (Watts and Storgatz, 1998). Our research has found indications of novel quantum criticality that is the quantum version of the small world effect.
