We are currently looking to recruit 3 Mechanical Technicians to work in the Experimental Operations Division.
The technician role involves working as part of a team supporting our existing Neutron and Muon beamlines. This can include installing and building beamlines, components and sub-assemblies from engineering drawings, ensuring all systems and assemblies are in good working order. You would also be expected to provide support and fault finding skills to enable visiting scientist to conduct experiments successfully and working on development projects to increase the capabilities of ISIS.
In your role you may need to work in specialised areas, such as gas safety systems. If this is a requirement of your particular role it will be discussed at interview and training will be given to you.
ISIS operates four 50 day cycles per year, during these cycles ISIS operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week so some over time is required for all these posts and in addition on-call is required for these roles.
An excellent index linked pension scheme and generous leave allowance are also offered with all positions. Employees receive 30 days annual leave per year excluding bank holidays and privilege days. In addition we operate a flexible working policy which can accommodate up to a maximum of an additional 26 days off in any year.
For an informal discussion about the posts, contact Erik.Johnson@stfc.ac.uk.
