What is the news?
Hydrogen is widely billed as the fuel of the future. For this to be a reality there is a pressing need for a safe, economic and reliable way to store and transport hydrogen, particularly for automotive applications. This has prompted a world-wide effort to develop novel materials that are re-usable and capable of storing and releasing significant quantities of hydrogen.
Neutron scattering research and materials development programmes at STFC laboratories are playing a key role in the global development of hydrogen storage technology.
The Royal Society of Chemistry is holding one of its prestigious Faraday Discussions at STFC’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) this year to discuss this very topic. Leading experts in the field from all over the world are heading to RAL to take part.
STFC is offering the opportunity for media to interview some of those experts by hosting a media briefing before the Faraday Discussion gets underway. Speakers at the event will give an overview of their work and an update on key developments in the field. All media, including broadcast and photographers, are welcome.

A free shuttle bus to RAL has been arranged to depart from Didcot Train Station at 9.25am. (It will be outside the main entrance to Didcot station from 9.15). 12 seats are available. Please let us know if you require a seat, otherwise they will be issued on a first come first serve basis at the station. Further taxis are also readily available at the station.
