The placements, which last for 12 months, start in June or July of this year and are available to University students looking to spend a year in industry.

The STFC’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory takes on somewhere in the region of 10 - 15 sandwich students each year and presents a very sociable and vibrant working environment. There is a laboratory recreational society with various sports teams and social events. Students are also encouraged to attend training courses which add value to their placement year.

Ideally, applicants will be in their second year of study, looking to spend a year working in a world leading centre for research in physical and life sciences.
