The Cosener's House, Abingdon, 20-21st January 2014.
Talks from the workshop can be found here.
VESUVIO is the only neutron spectrometer of its kind in the world and has seen recent and significant improvement’s on its capabilities, including an order of magnitude gain in accuracy and reproducibility. With these, it is now possible to follow subtle yet physically meaningful changes in spectral width and line shapes, thereby enabling parametric studies as a function of external stimuli or time.
This meeting is part of a series of workshops on eV neutron science, encompassing a review of the state of art in instrument development, and the experimental and theoretical results from a variety of physical systems chosen to illustrate the scope and power of the method. The I and II editions of the previous meetings were held at Cosener House in May 1995 and October 1998, the III edition held in Santa Fe (New Mexico, US) in April 2005, the IV edition held in Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 2006 and the V edition in Rome 2012 (for more information on the workshop on the Progress in Electron Volt Neutron Spectroscopy Workshop V clickhere and for information on the workshop on high energy neutrons for society click here) .
In this VI workshop in Abingdon we seek to explore current frontiers and potential future developments in electron-volt neutron spectroscopy and instrumentation, ranging from the study of nuclear quantum effects in condensed matter to mass-resolved neutron spectroscopy in materials science.
Conference proceedings will be published in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series, an open-access journal.
The Programme is now available here.
