Vanadium is a soft, ductile, silver-grey metal. It has good resistance to corrosion and it is stable against alkalis, sulfuric and hydrochloric acids. It is oxidized in air at about 933 K (660 °C, 1220 °F), although an oxide layer forms even at room temperature.

Density (25 °C) =  6.0 g/cm3 = 0.0721 atoms/Å3

Melting point = 2183 K, 1910 °C, 3470 °F
