Round 26-1 Details
Call for access is now open
Please note:
HRPD, OSIRIS and SURF are not available this call.
There is limited availability on MAPS: Following technical issues on MAPS, users requiring high resolution (generally proposals whose focus is vibrational spectroscopy) are particularly encouraged to speak to the instrument team prior to submission to ensure their experiment is feasible.
Call deadline is 17:00 BST Wednesday 15 October 2025 Access likely to be scheduled from May 2026
Access panel meetings will take place 3-4 December 2025, with results to PIs expected by mid-end January 2026
Guidelines for writing a good proposal science case can be found here. Proposal peer-review panel members strongly encourage the use of the template and adherence to the formatting instructions.
To submit a proposal visit the ISIS Online Proposal System
If
deuterated materials are required, it is strongly advised that you contact the ISIS Deuteration Facility (ISISDeuterationFacility@stfc.ac.uk) before submission to discuss feasibility.
An experimental team must come to ISIS to perform the experiment. Please ensure you have an experiment team able to come physically to ISIS before submitting a proposal.
Please note:
The ISIS Policy on the use of AI in proposal and science case writing can be
found here, and must be adhered to if AI is used at any point of the proposal writing process.
ISIS neutron and muon instruments are free at the point of access for academic and industry researchers, provided the results from experiments are published in the public domain.
Terms and conditions for accessing ISIS can be found
here and useful information to note before applying can be found
here.
If experimental time on multiple instruments is required, please submit a separate proposal application for each.
We are not able to provide travel and subsitence costs for users travelling from outside the UK. For users funded through an overseas ISIS-partnership agreement (Italy, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia), we will reimburse your expenses. Details on reimbursement conditions for each partnership can be found
here, and succesful PIs will also be contacted with the terms.
New users are always welcome at ISIS Neutron and Muon Source and we are constantly encouraging new areas of research that can flourish. There are a number of routes for academics and
industry to access beamtime. Please browse the box links below for further important information and guidance including links to our
instrument pages.
