I received an MChem in Chemistry (2003) and PhD in Medicinal Chemistry (2007) from the University of Reading, before moving to Queen's University Belfast to take up a Research Fellow position (2008). After four years located in Belfast I moved to Merck Chemicals Ltd in Southampton, under an Industrial Collaboration agreement. Now, I hold a position in the ISIS Isotope Facility (Deuteration Lab) as synthetic organic chemist responsible for providing necessary isotopically-substituted chemical compounds for the ISIS user community.
 
I have worked in such diverse chemical areas as carbohydrate chemistry, phosphorous chemistry, nanoparticle synthesis, and ionic liquids, and have an interest in the structural aspects of these systems as observed via neutron diffraction experiments (see publications below).
