ALF
ALF provides quick, intuitive, rapid access for the alignment and assessment of single crystals for users of the main ISIS excitation instruments and the WISH diffractometer. The ALF crystal alignment facility has a goniometer stack and a bank of position sensitive detectors which can be used to check the quality of single crystals, or align single crystals or multi-crystal arrays in preparation for other experiments at ISIS.
If you require the use of ALF before an experiment, please inform your local contact well in advance, as the beamline is also extensively used for testing new detectors, and we therefore cannot guarantee that you will be able to use it at short notice.
All publications and datasets based on experiments using ALF should cite that the data is collected by DOI: 10.5286/isis.instrument.2022. Experiment DOIs follow the format 10.5286/ISIS.E.RBXXXXXXX, where XXXXXXX is the 7-digit experiment (RB) number and these can be viewed via the Data Gateway.
