There are two meetings organised by ISIS each year just for students, providing opportunities for students to present their work to their peers, ask questions of each other and chair sessions. These offer the chance to discover more about the broad range of research taking place at neutron and muon facilities and network with fellow students who also carry out experiments at large scale facilities.
- ISIS Student Meeting (ISM) runs annually as a 2-day meeting showcasing student research
- UK Neutron & Muon Science and User Meeting (NMSUM) Student day runs annually as a 1-day meeting before the main User meeting to learn more about neutron & muon techniques, as well as the research of fellow students
Registration to both meetings are open to PhD and Masters students and are free to researchers at UK universities and ILL. Reasonable travel expenses for these students will also be covered.
The 2021 ISIS Student Meeting will be held on 28 & 29 October at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. The meeting will be an in-person meeting, but there will be the ability to watch the sessions remotely if travel is not possible. It will run from lunchtime on 28 October to lunchtime on 29 October. The meeting will be made up of student talks and poster sessions, as well as a careers panel session with representatives from ISIS, academia and industry. We encourage all attendees to present a poster or a talk. The deadline for submission will be the end of September: after this date, you can still register, but the organising committee will use titles submitted before this date to select speakers. If the number of registrations exceeds the occupancy limit of the room, places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to the meeting. To register, please complete this form.
