Muon Site Calculation Meeting

Friday 4th September, 9:30 – 16:00 (UK time), by Zoom

This meeting continues with the very successful series of meetings that had been previously organised to discuss computational techniques for (μSR) and, in particular, this meeting is being organised within the framework of a two-year grant, from the Ada Lovelace Centre, whose main purpose is the development of a sustainable software platform for the various computational tools used in µSR.

The aim of the meeting is to discuss the latest developments in µSR software and the applications of µSR in areas where simulations could be useful, as well as to establish the requirements that would: a) facilitate the integration of the different software tools and, b) make the µSR software more sustainable and user-friendly.

A website for the meeting can be found at

Muon Spectroscopy at Low Temperatures - Symposium and User Meeting

Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th February 2017, at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, UK

To mark 30 years of muon science at ISIS and the recent retirement of our first dilution fridge, delivered by TBT in March 1992, we will be holding a symposium discussing µSR studies at low temperatures. There will also be an ISIS Facility User Meeting on the Monday afternoon, providing a chance to hear the latest news about our proposed MuSR upgrade and our ongoing project to provide new low temperature sample environment.

Also planned is an informal session giving students an opportunity to present their PhD work in a few minutes – all students will get the chance to speak!

All are welcome to attend. For UK-based academics full costs will be covered; otherwise we are happy to pay local costs associated with the meeting.
