Total scattering proves to be a powerful tool for studying high entropy alloys

A team from Sweden, Sheffield and ISIS have proven that small-box modelling of total scattering measurements can be used to accurately measure lattice distortions in high entropy alloys. High Entropy Alloys (HEAs) are made from nearly equal ratios of multiple elements. These novel materials are of considerable interest, as they have novel properties caused by combining the properties of the component elements.
