Professor Sarah Rogers was appointed Director of the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source in August 2025, having been a member of ISIS since 2008. She joined as a Small-Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS) instrument scientist, became Group Leader of the SANS Group in 2019, and in 2023 joined the ISIS Leadership Team as a Science Division Head.
Before ISIS, Sarah was a Junior Beamline Scientist at Diamond Light Source Ltd, contributing to the commissioning of the I22 beamline. She previously held an EPSRC-funded postdoctoral position at the University of Bristol in Professor Julian Eastoe’s group, researching the formation of gold nanoparticles in supercritical CO₂. She completed her PhD in the same group in 2005 and holds an MSci in Chemistry from Bristol (2002).
At ISIS, Sarah has maintained an active research programme using neutron scattering to study surfactant systems and colloid chemistry, and is an author on around 200 scientific publications. In February 2026, she was appointed Visiting Professor in the School of Chemistry at the University of Bristol, collaborating with Professor Wuge Briscoe on supercritical CO₂ systems.
She is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a trustee of the Rideal Trust.
