Sarah is currently the Materials and Engineering Division Head, having been a member of ISIS staff since 2008. Initially joining as an instrument scientist, she became the SANS Team Leader within the Large Scale Structures Group in 2016. In 2019, Sarah was promoted to Group Leader of the newly formed SANS Group before joining the ISIS Leadership Team as a Science Division Head in 2023.

Sarah says; "I am both excited and honoured to be the next ISIS Director. I look forward to working with our amazing staff to ensure that ISIS continues to produce world-leading research in collaboration with our user community. Both by making the most of our current suite of instruments and, in the future, completing the Endeavour programme and further developing the case for ISIS-II."

STFC's Executive Director for National Laboratories: Large Scale Facilities, Dr Roger Eccleston said: “I am delighted that Sarah Rogers will be the next ISIS Director. Sarah's commitment to ISIS and its long-term development, and her passion for the science delivered in partnership with ISIS's vibrant user community, mean that she will lead ISIS forward with energy and ambition. I would like to thank Steve Wakefield for his excellent stewardship of ISIS in the interim"

Before joining ISIS, Sarah held two postdoctoral positions, one at the School of Chemistry at University of Bristol studying supercritical carbon dioxide systems and the second at Diamond Light Source as part of the Team that commissioned the non-crystalline diffractometer, I22.

Sarah completed a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bristol and is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).  She is Chair of the RSC Colloid and Interface Science Group, a member of the Rideal Trust and a member of the ILL Scientific Council.
